Mother Nature's Freaky Chicken Egg Blooper...

It has always been said that a Chicken Egg is Nature’s most perfect food.

Until Now!

Mother Nature must have had her eyes closed when she created this Blooper! An Unusual, One of a Kind, Rare, Unique, Freak of Nature Chicken Egg are only a few words that can describe this special event “Boo Boo” that has never been documented before.

This is possibly the VERY First, Once in a Lifetime, Chicken Egg that was ever laid, that has the egg yolk separated from the egg whites.

BUT

The egg yolk and the whites are connected by the egg membrane.

If you think that sounds impossible, look at this actual picture of this rare chicken egg.

Mother Nature’s Freak of Nature Chicken Egg… To be sold on eBay.

To give you an idea of the size of this egg, the egg is five and one half inches long and the dinner plate that the egg is on is eight and one half inches in diameter.

To completely understand this rare, unusual, and very uncommon occurrence, you need to understand some of the basic parts of a chicken egg.

  1. Starting from the inside center is the Yolk of the egg.
  2. Surrounding the yolk is the Egg White also known as the Albumin.
  3. Holding these two together is the Shell Membrane which also is what holds the shell in place.
  4. And lastly on the outside is the Egg Shell.

This egg was laid without an egg shell and is being held together by the shell membrane within two separate compartments.

Watch this movie and you will see a lot more details of this egg.

An egg without a shell is not that uncommon for usually young chickens just starting to lay eggs, will lay the first few eggs without an egg shell. Another possibility if there is no egg shell produced is that there is no calcium sources around that the chickens can eat in order to produce the egg shells. Oyster shell is always provided for the chickens to eat for their calcium intake to produce the egg shells.

However…

An egg to be laid whereas the Yolk and the Egg White are laid in two separate compartments is EXTREMELY RARE to a degree that I doubt if one has ever been laid before.

Have you ever heard of one that was laid like the above?

A larger picture of this Rare Egg with more specific details can be seen here and will open in a new window so you may inspect it more closely. Hover your mouse over the bottom right hand corner of the picture and you will be able to expand the image with those controls.

A question came up asking how a buyer could preserve the egg, and although I am no expert I would suggest formaldehyde, which is what is used in embalming and preserves body parts.

There is a second movie, Part 2, on YouTube that we just made regarding this One of a Kind Chicken Egg that you may watch if you click on this link for the Chicken Egg Blooper.
