in capital punishment and believe that if more people would take a stand

Sadly the people in the USA lose interest very fast and tend to look the other way instead of doing something about a problem. Vietnam was a perfect example of this. I bet people that lose loved ones to drunk drivers, soldiers, spouses, or people on 9-11 would NEVER look the other way and pretend that it didn't happen. Some would call us an activist and it would be true. We do take a stand for what we believe in, so I will set the record straight up front.
Not to get off sounding like a "preacher," but last time I checked, stealing is one of the ten commandments in addition to being a law that Pete failed to follow along with several others.

The purpose of this web page is to explain in detail what happened to us with Pertti Malinen aka "Pete" and it is our hope that we can forewarn others so that they also do not get screwed since he also operates a business as a masseuse called Hands4U Body Care.
I really don't know if Pete is honestly a crook or if it is that he has mental problems that cause him to do what he does, possibly both! He himself stated in an email he wrote to us, "I admit sometimes my social skills aren't what they should be."
If you read this entire page you will have a complete understanding as to why I say that. Either way he is someone that you don't want to be around or to do any business with him.
There are two reasons why we are so upset at him, allow me to explain WHAT he did to us and also WHY we are so upset at his actions.
First why:
About three years ago we moved away from San Diego CA after only living there
for only four years for two reasons.
1. It is to expensive to live there unless you are independently wealthy.
2. A lot of people there would screw you, or steal from you, if you turned your back on them. This is exactly what Pete did to us and YES Pete also is from CA. He told us he moved here to Denver, CO not long ago from Orange County, which is the Los Angeles area, where the worst people live! Most people have already heard many stories about that area that are all true!
Second what
he did:
For you to get a complete understanding of the type of person he is, I need
to explain all our (my wife and I) experiences with him but I will try to be
brief and to the point.
We first met Pete in September of 2006 at an outdoor camping get together sponsored by "Colorado_Swing_Camping" which is a yahoo group here in Colorado. Pete camped not to far from us and was by himself so we talked to him to befriend him so that he too would have a good time. He appeared to be very lonely and introverted.
Our conversations, now that we think back about them were very "give and take." Seemed like we gave Pete information and he took it all with nothing back in return! We discussed having web sites which we gave him places to go to get free software and in the conversations we had hunting and fishing in common.
Some things that took place with him, we never gave it to much thought until we thought about it later after he took advantage of us. As example when there was to be a pot luck that evening at the campground. We brought a dish to share with everyone but Pete did not!
We tried to set up a date to go rabbit hunting but it just didn't seem to pan out until we finally decided to go to Adobe Lake in Southeastern Colorado to do both hunting and fishing. After our camping trip our conversations were limited to email so below I will copy all the mail that was sent between us so you get a feel for what took place.

I just got the word that we are going to go Fri evening 10-6-06 and come back on Sun 10-8-06. Again all these trips out there depends on the weather. If the forecast says lots of storms or high winds, we won't go. Meaning we will have a definite on the weather by 10-4 or 10-5 at the latest.
We can use the same plan as we had before regarding coming down on Thurs if you want.
This may be the last time we go out for the year, depending on the weather, so let us know if you `are going to make it. We want to start going rabbit hunting soon also like we talked about.

Note: I reminded him here to bring some liver for bait but even though he knows he is going fishing, he brings NO bait! At this time I did not see that he was taking advantage of us and even offered for him to use one on my trout lines, which he did along with all MY BAIT!

Pete came down to our house on Friday October 6, 2006 and we both stated to put things together needed for the trip. He had a very small cooler and I asked him if I could add his things to our cooler to save on space. He agreed and as I was putting his items in our cooler I noticed that he didn't bring much food, hardly enough to keep a bird alive. Later when we were at the lake he started to eat all our food and although I did offer it, I did not expect him to take advantage of the situation and make a pig of himself, PLUS, he was supposed to bring all his own food!
Pete also brought NOTHING to drink. I asked him about this and he said that he forgot it and needed to go to the store. So he asked if I needed anything and I asked him to pick up some charcoal lighter fluid so we could make a fire, which he did.
I never noticed at that time and it never came up till we got to the lake that Pete DID NOT bring ANY BAIT for fishing. He said he forgot. How can you forget bait when you are going fishing? PLUS I told him exactly how to cure some bait specifically for the catfish two weeks ahead of time and he NEVER did that either.
On Saturday after we put out all the trout lines and jugs we went off to go rabbit hunting by the lake. Pete saw one and shot at it many times and I joked at him for missing it that maybe he should have thrown some rocks instead. Later when we got back to camp I saw that he was using light load 12 gage shells that are for bird hunting instead of heavy loads for rabbits. I proceeded to educate him giving him a lot of information about hunting and I gave him one of the three rabbits I shot since he didn't get one. In summery still going back to that "I give and he just takes without giving anything back" program.
This was entirely the way the whole trip went whereas I showed him how to catch catfish and all my secrets, which we caught our limit of 30 catfish and several other fish while we were there.
We had many talks around the fire Saturday night and one statement that Pete made was how he keeps getting free stuff from craigslist and how he was real happy with the freezer he got for free to use for hunting. Not that there is anything wrong with getting free stuff since one man's trash is another man's treasurer, but when you look at the entire picture, personality and situation of Pete, this habit of his tells me that he is nothing but "trailer trash" and he even said he does live in a trailer!
When I asked Pete about his business he bragged about the fact that he said he runs a cash business so doesn't report all his income on his taxes. I felt that was wrong and I don't like paying taxes either but it is those funds that helps the troops to keep us free in the USA. What is wrong with this picture?
Sunday we left the lake because it started to storm and in the process lost 10 jugs on the lake and most all the equipment was knotted up and needed a LOT of maintenance including the boat that got swamped while it was parked on the beach during the storm. The boat would require a LOT of cleaning because of the carpeting throughout the entire bottom that was saturated with mud and clay.
On the way home we stopped at a quick shop to pick up some ice for the fish and I asked Pete to get it since he did not contribute anything yet for the trip even though I discussed with him the costs and how I only get, if lucky, 10 miles per gallon with the van pulling the boat.
He went inside and came out saying that he didn't have his wallet. I asked him where it was & he said in the boat so I got it out for him and he went back inside for the ice. He came back out a second time with a new EXCUSE that his debit card stated that he had no money in his account even though he swore that he had plenty of cash in it. I ended up buying all the ice and again Pete pays for nothing.
When we got back home from the lake we cleaned all the fish, which I had to show Pete how to clean fish. I almost expected that at this point for I was starting to see the real type of person that Pete is.
When we were done with the fish, Pete asked if he could take a shower and proceeded downstairs to take one in our second bath. We did not find out till later that day after Pete left that he took one of our towels with him. I was not sure if this was an honest mistake of if he was a thief or if he thought he was at some hotel that he stole our towel???? I kept giving him the benefit of doubt thinking that maybe the towel was misplaced in our house somewhere but later found out he took it!
When he finished he started packing up getting ready to leave and I asked him if he was going to help me clean up the boat. He acted dumbfounded and said he had to leave for he needed to get home to get his dog from someone that was watching him. He also stated that he didn't realize that it would take so long to clean all the fish. I took his answers as just more excuses and I was starting to get real upset since I never asked him to help me with the messed up equipment that needed cleaning that he also used and benefited from by catching fish.
He said he could not stay so I asked him again about paying me for his half of the expenses. The first time we discussed the expenses in detail while we were cleaning the fish and since he knew from our conversation what the costs were, I stated to him to pay me what he felt was a fair figure. In the past when I went out with other people the amount that was paid was always more than enough so I told him the same thing I have told others.
Pete paid me nothing and when I realized he kept evading the issue I finally just told him to send me a check when he was in his car ready to leave.
So this was going to be the big test to see if Pete is an honest person or nothing more than a leech at whether or not he sends us a check. The answer below!

In the future when we go on trips together, it is important that you carry your own expenses at time that we are on the trip, just like you would have to do when you go on trips by yourself. I don't want to get into a situation of paying for other people for we have our own expenses to deal with and other people's expenses are not my concern!
I hope you can understand my position for I expected that you would voluntarily pay your portion and not have to be asked for it.

As you can see from the date, four days later I was still involved cleaning up all the equipment that he never helped to take care of. I did find a chair & a Tupperware container that was Pete's and let him know I had it.
I was giving Pete the benefit of the doubt to see if given time, he would pull himself out of the hole he got himself into and we discussed going hunting and again I asked him for money and gave him more specific figures since in the past I just let it up to him to pay what he thought was fair.
I gave Pete very conservative figures and did not include all of my costs. The cost of the gas and oil for the boat was $16.00 that I told him about but never included it in the above. The bait cost was at least $27.00 and I would estimate that what he ate of our food was at least $15.00, which his half on a conservative basis was at least $97 and did not include many items that I had to do myself plus wear and tear on the equipment. If he would have given me at least $150 to cover everything there would never have been any problem and the situation gets worst as you will see from the following emails.
In the past when others have gone with us on an outing, they have always been more than considerate and offered enough money to cover what was needed WITHOUT being asked, as we also have done when the situation warranted it.
For anyone to go out hunting and fishing for a weekend for only $150 is a steal but instead Pete decided to steal from us and be an absolute leech the entire time!

I have to admit I was very bothered by the line in your email where you said

I really don't think Pete understands how to do arithmetic for that number doesn't make any sense at all but at that moment I figured if I got that out of him I would take it and NEVER associate with that cheap crook again in the future but that didn't happen.
Pete has a selective short memory for I finally said to send me a check when he was in his car preparing to leave and I knew that he was not going to give me any money while he was at my house. Since he knew he was going on a trip and he would have to pay his own way, a normal person would have brought enough money to cover themselves at the time it was due.
Brandi the moderator from Colorado_Swing_Camping, was also invited because she wanted to check out the lake and area for possible future camping trips for the group. She stated in an email ahead of time that she didn't have the funds to make the trip. Now if Pete was in that type of a financial situation then why not say something like Brandi did?
Instead Pete elected to be a leech and shirk his responsibilities, so I again tried to set things straight and resolve the issue by explaining things more in detail.

Pete,
Let me go over a couple of things.
When you volunteered to split expenses it was when we were cleaning the fish and I said, "Sure whatever you think is fair, I don't split hairs."Later when you never paid anything and you were leaving at your car is when I said "Send me a check for the expenses."
The bottom line here is that at your age you should know the correct things to do and the correct time to do them without being told. Hence my comment, "I expected that you would voluntarily pay your portion and not have to be asked for it." Anyway you said you sent out the check so let's drop that issue.
During all our conversations I explained to you what it all took both before and after the fishing trips and I was not telling a wild story when I said it usually takes a week to prep for the trip and usually more than a week after the trip. It takes a lot of time with all the equipment that is needed to be real productive out there as I'm sure you saw.
When something unexpected happens, like water pouring into the boat, it destroys things or messes them up so they have to be cleaned up. I had electronic equipment in that small white bag in the back that got destroyed.
The jugs will take one hour each to make new ones not including untangling all the ones that are messed up. Last time we had a trot line tangled up it took me 6 hours to fix it.
You only had to bring yourself, camping gear, food, & bait, which was nothing compared to all our equipment.
We all judge people by our own standards that we ourselves do and how we feel. In the past when I went places with other people I always paid my fair share before I was asked or I bought up the subject so that there was never an issue later. If I couldn't afford to pay my share I never went on the trip so as not to create problems.
In summery it is very costly to run a boat along with all the equipment that is needed and or messed up that people don't see along with a LOT of time. I guess I also learned my lesson whereas next time anyone comes along I will discuss and get expenses up front and if that person gets upset then they don't have to come with us.
When you said, "there was much more to do than I realized" this is true and if you get an elk you will find out how much work there is cutting it up and packing it out especially by yourself!!!!

The regs limit the # of jugs to 10 and name the lakes where they can be used but blue lake isn't on the list. Just something I noticed and wanted to bring to your attention in case you didn't know. Another thing I hope you check into is the steering on your van, I know you're use to it but it may ad to your reaction time in case of an emergency maneuver. Of course do what you like I just wanted to put that out there.

The true name is Adobe Reservoir but the locals call it Blue Lake & so does anyone else even the ranger that is assigned to it.

Still he sent no check so I asked him again for the towel he stole only in my email I gave him the benefit of doubt and gave him a way out "honorably" mentioning it being a mistake hoping that he would own up to it.
We search our house extensively for the towel that Pete used and was NEVER found so he must have STOLE IT and as like other things won't admit it.
No one else was in our house and the bad part is being a guest towel, although older but like brand new, cannot be replaced because the stores are always changing colors so we cannot get another to match the rest of the set. We will be forced to buy another complete set of towels because of what Pete did.
Although most would feel this is a minor thing, I consider it a major problem when someone is invited into our home as a guest, and treated him as a family member, and he takes advantage of our hospitality and cannot be trusted by stealing from us. The value here is totally unimportant for it is the principal of the issue here just as much as all the other problems with Pertti Malinen.
I hear about this situation from my wife every time she goes into the second bath for she is ready to spit nails because of principal of the situation.

When I got done using the towel I hung it on the shower door. I remember pulling only one towel out of my bag when I got home.

Understand that Pete has his own massage business. If he treats us, his friends, like this by not paying his bills, stealing towels, free loading off people as a big leech and all the rest that I've outlined… Just think how he treats his customers in business! I bet the reason why he has his own business is because no one would hire him once they get to know him! I would love to talk with all the places that he has worked in his lifetime. When I was doing research on the internet using his name as a keyword I found some interesting facts that I suggest to click on the links below about him.
I also noticed from the web sites that he is claiming to be in his 40's, I would like to see his drivers license for I believe he also is lying about his age for I believe he is definitely in his 50's. Personally I really don't care how old he is but I'm just trying to establish how he is consistently lying about everything.
I would be interested to run a police report on Pete and also find out if he had ever been in any type of a mental ward. I believe Pete has some real problems and anyone around him or associated with him is in real jeopardy.

That was the last time I heard from Pete and of course he never sent any money or check.
I knew he would never send a copy of the check with someone's names scratched off, per his story, because if he did it would immediately prove that he was lying. See, the back of the check, once cashed would have my checking account number on the back or if cashed for cash would at least have our personal ID info on it. He does not have this info so he cannot even forge a copy!
In summery:
I hope that you can see from all the documentation above that Pertti Malinen

Please advise everyone whether or not you will be kicking him out and permanently
banning him from this group. I am sure that no one wants a questionable
individual in the group that is capable of such actions and would have to worry
that they and their property is NOT safe camping with such a crook around.
We discussed what other actions Pete is capable of that he didn't already pull on us or that he could pull on others! Do we want to keep him in the group to find out?
I also feel that you should make it a policy NOT to allow such type of individuals in the group if such an incident should ever occur again in the future.
If you don't keep and maintain high standards in this group, than it is worthless and all you will do is attract other bad people that will cause a LOT of problems. With the theme of nude camping, you don't want additional problems, more than what the theme already brings to the table. What if a member is a rapists or a murderer?
What would you say if a person is a crook, liar, leech, thief, and untrustworthy? If you think that these items are not a big deal then let me give you some examples on how they could affect the group, camping or get togethers.
Could anyone ever feel that their belongings are safe with a crook or a thief at an outing without constantly watching them? Good camping gear is not cheap as we all know that have made those purchases.
When you have a pot luck lunch or dinner, would it be fair if a leech was there and never contributed anything? What if everyone did that?
If you felt attracted to someone and wanted to play around, would you want to get together with a liar that has aids or some other disease that says he is clean?
You make a point of finding camping spots in an area that is not well known and that is hidden. Would you want an untrustworthy person telling the wrong people the location of the camping spot after you went through so much trouble to find it?
Do you need an example of what a rapists and a murderer could do or do you get the picture as I am trying to outline it?
Don't think that any of these problems are out of the question for we have experienced these problems with Pertti Malinen "Pete" in a different sort of way but the outcome was still the same. "We got screwed" because we met him at one of your camping outings and it did not feel good.
I would like to know why he was even allowed to come to any camping event since he was by himself? Who was the one that was supposed to know him or be responsible for him as a single man? It was WRONG to have ever allowed him to come to the camping event.
Please do the right thing and get rid of him and establish sound policies for these types of people.

If we look at

As I have said many times, I have never received payment from him nor has
he sent me a copy of a cancelled check to prove what he states as I asked for
and he refused. In his own admission, supposedly there was another name on a
check he said he sent to us.
I would never have wasted all this time doing what I'm doing if he paid us and the problems were solved. NO PROBLEMS have been solved by Pete and this has gone on now for eight months.
The money he owes me is only a part of the entire situation and if you don't know what I'm talking about, I suggest reading the entire web page word for word. All the emails that are listed there shows that Pete was the one that did not resolve the issue or even try other than throwing out excuses and ignoring my emails.
That's good that that five other people have had good experiences with him but he needs to do that with everyone and not just selected people.

say then I ask you and or Pete to send me a copy of the front and back of the

that you or Pete cannot do this because we never received it.
It is really sad that you have lowered yourself to his level by lying for him and this will affect your group that you worked so hard to build and because of lack of control on your part it may fall apart and it does NOT have to.
Think about this. Please, let's address the check and let me prove it to you. After what happened we don't want in the group but the truth needs to come out.

If you and Pete, can produce a check that we actually cashed that has our personal
information on it, I will remove all that we posted and publicly admit that
we were wrong.
Now if you can't then You and Pete publicly admit that you were both wrong and he is guilty of what he did to us and he pays EVERYTHING that he owes us including all our time we spent producing these documents and time we spent on this matter, within one week and NO longer. It is all documented in my files.
If we were to stay in the group, which we will NOT I would also make it mandatory that you make strict rules for your group that anyone found causing any type of illegal problems whether it be inside or outside the group will immediately be removed and permanently banned. Brandy never received that email for again her solution was to block her eyes and she did this by blocking my email address for I got my email back, below, and you will note it states, "This email was blocked & rejected."
Another brilliant solution on her part don't you think?

We received an email from a man that claimed to be a friend of Brandy's and in a return response to him on 6-8-07 I asked if he would do us a favor and forward our above email to Brandy since she blocked emails from us. Now whether or not he does forward it, that is anyone's guess.
As like our emails to Pete, Brandy is following in Pete's footsteps by doing what Pete did by ignoring the problem, lying, or by making wild accusations as have been stated above in her emails, when she has no grounds to stand on. She won't even try to settle the problem either.
I will be very curious to see what Brandy plans to do now since I know as a fact that neither her or Pete can produce a cashed check since they DO NOT have our personal information as I previously stated.
As of today's date 6-13-07, Brandy has not responded to the email if she even received it at all.

Pete has used two different cities as his home location of Brighton and Frederick CO, which does not make a lot of sense because the two cities are a ways apart?? Maybe he is not sure where he lives or is he trying to be evasive in case one of his rip off's try to find him?
